Message

The primary goal of the Continuing Education Office is to provide individuals with educational and training opportunities in order to meet their desire for knowledge and professional growth. By doing so, the office will also contribute to the country’s human resource requirements. In order to achieve its goals, the Office will form collaborations both within and outside of the institution as part of its efforts to contribute to the mission of the University.

The Office has the following specific Objectives:

  • Increasing chances for extension and summer learning by broadening offerings and areas of expertise; strengthening capacity at MWU by raising personnel qualifications.
  • Educating professionals in the economy, government, and social services to encourage change and higher-quality service delivery at all levels.

Undergraduate and postgraduate programs Under CE Admission to under graduate programs is based on the requirements set by the MoE. Admission is possible 0nce in a year given the minimum class size of applicants register in a program.

Graduate programs require fulfilling admission requirements of the curriculum of the specific program. Passing an entrance examination, producing an official transcript from the university/college from where one obtained one’s degree, and producing a copy of the original degree are required. No exemption is allowed for students with degree in other fields of study.

Main Activities

  • Develop guidelines and frameworks to ensure the implementation of continuing education programs by academic units.
  • Organize, coordinate and implement graduate and undergraduate programs in continuing and distance education.
  • Organize and coordinate and differentiate programs in continuing education in weekend, winter and summer in different centers.
  • Organize, coordinate and implement graduate and undergraduate programs in continuing and distance education.
  • Work in consultation with relevant academic units and offices to develop strategies for the management of income generated through continuing education as part of community services.
  • Collect, process, deploy and disseminate information and data in the form of catalogs on extension and in-service programs.
  • Monitor and oversee the process of appointment of instructors for continuing education programs as per the legislation and applicable laws.
  • Carry out additional activities assigned to by the Academic Vice President.

One of the most fundamental issues for a country’s development is the use of educated manpower. Ethiopia is expanding higher education institutions and organizing its citizen stomeet the same principles. The University of Madda Walabu also offers under-graduate and post-graduate studies, with approximately 15,000 students enrolled in extension, summer, and winter programs.
