Madda Walabu University Delivers STEM Training for High School Female Students in Robe Town

Madda Walabu University has successfully delivered a specialized training program on technological innovation for female high school students in Robe Town under the theme “Girls Can Code: STEM Training for High School Female Students.” The initiative was designed to empower young women with fundamental technological skills and inspire their active participation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields.


The training brought together top-performing female students selected from various high schools across Robe Town and the program aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of technology and innovation while encouraging them to pursue future careers in the rapidly evolving digital and technological sectors.


The opening session was addressed by Mr. Melese Chala, Incubation Dissemination Coordinator at Madda Walabu University in his remarks; he highlighted the significance of equipping young women with technological knowledge and practical skills at an early stage. He emphasized that empowering girls through STEM education is essential for narrowing the gender gap in technology-related professions and fostering inclusive innovation and sustainable development.


The training covered a wide range of topics, including empowering girls in future technological innovation, fundamental coding skills, understanding the basics of software development, and real-time programming practice. Through both theoretical sessions and hands-on practical exercises, participants gained valuable exposure to coding concepts and software development processes, enabling them to develop foundational digital competencies.


The training participants demonstrated strong enthusiasm and active engagement and trainees expressed their excitement about the opportunity to learn coding and technology-related skills, noting that the program had increased their confidence and interest in pursuing STEM-related education and careers. 

The training concluded with a certificate recognition ceremony, during which participants who successfully completed the program were awarded certificates of achievement
