School Of Agriculture

The school of Agriculture was established on October 11, 2010. Currently the school of Agriculture comprises four course teams, namely: Animal and Range Science, Plant Science, Rural Development and Agricultural Extension. In this year, the school has also launched a new Depart-ment called Agricultural Economics. The primary objective of the school is to serve the country by producing qualified and competent graduates in different fields of agriculture. In realizing this objective, since 2010 the school had produced a number of graduates for the last seven years in both regular and winter in-service programs. Additionally, collaborating with Oromia Bureau of Agriculture, the school has launched “Regular In-Service” and “Winter In-Service” programs in Animal and Range Science and Plant Science course teams in 2011/12 so as to provide opportunity to upgrade professional skills of the candidates in their respective fields of study. In line with this, the school of Agriculture produced a total of 74 Bachelor of Science Degree graduates in February 2014 for the second time in Regular In-service Program. At present, there are 720 undergraduate students in both Regular and winter in-service programs. Concerning academic staff profile the school has a total of 76 instructors out of them 37 are on study leave for M.Sc /PhD.
